JV Volleyball Coach – Part Time, Stipend Only
Regents School of Austin's Department of Athletics is committed to using sports to redeem the hearts of athletes, parents, coaches, and others to Christ. We seek a Christian role model who is dedicated to the mission, loves to disciple student‑athletes, supports families, and has teaching and coaching skills in volleyball.
Position SummaryCoaches are a crucial component of the athletic program. The Coach will lead four teams (grades 7‑12) and implement a long‑term plan for program advancement. Responsibilities include culture building, instruction, oversight, and administrative duties.
Duties & Responsibilities Culture- Provide a long‑term plan for program advancement; implement the plan vertically for all teams and summer development opportunities.
- Meet regularly with coaches, student‑athletes, and parents to communicate the athletic department's vision.
- Lead conflict resolution among parents, coaches, and athletes.
- Meet with prospective families whose children are interested in volleyball.
- Use multiple teaching and coaching techniques to accommodate diverse learning styles; ensure assistant coaches use the same approach.
- Prepare written tryout and practice plans that demonstrate progressive skill development and conditioning.
- Conduct practices with a logical progression of fundamentals, safe techniques, and appropriate warnings.
- Include cardiovascular and muscular‑skeletal conditioning in practices, adjusting for weather conditions.
- Supervise structured practices appropriate for athlete age and maturity; oversee equipment and facilities.
- Assess athlete readiness for practice and competition; obtain medical clearance when necessary.
- Maintain safe playing conditions; identify injury risks and hazardous environments.
- Ensure all players are properly equipped with appropriate and safe protective gear.
- Maintain cleanliness and order of facilities and storage areas.
- Maintain TAPPS certification and knowledge of TAPPS/NCAA/NFHS rules.
- Attend district meetings, banquets, clinics, and other non‑routine events.
- Meet weekly with the Director of Athletics.
- Provide emergency care; be CPR/First Aid/AED certified and know campus AED locations.
- Execute assigned summer camps and other duties as needed.
- Willingness to listen, build consensus, and establish trust.
- High self‑awareness and a positive role model.
- Organizational and time‑management skills; detail oriented.
- Process‑driven.
- Excellent oral and written communication.
- Technology savvy with Google Apps, Microsoft Office.
- Adaptability to diverse social environments.
- Three years or more coaching experience preferred.
- Desire and ability to disciple youth athletes toward a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ.
- Leadership experience with student‑athletes and adult coaches.
- Faith in Christ and support of the mission and vision of the Athletic Department.
Variable schedule including evenings and weekends; out‑of‑season demands vary by team needs.
EvaluationPerformance evaluated annually by the Director of Athletics based on the job description and workload fulfillment.
