Year‑Round Lifeguard (Evenings & Weekends)

Join Shalom Austin as a Year‑Round Lifeguard and help make a difference in the community.

Compensation: Hourly rate of $17.00 to $18.00, Part‑Time, less than 20 hours per week.

About the Job: You will be responsible for the safety of pool patrons by preventing accidents and responding quickly to emergencies. You will also enforce pool policies, maintain life‑safety skills, conduct routine maintenance, and log safety checks in compliance with Shalom Austin, state, and local guidelines.

• Responsible for the safety of pool patrons by preventing accidents and responding quickly to emergency situations.
• Must follow and enforce pool policies and rules at all times.
• Prevent injuries and minimize hazardous situations.
• Always provide safety surveillance, including while walking around the facility.
• Attend mandatory training and in‑service meetings required by Shalom Austin.
• Maintain life safety and rescue skills at rescue‑ready levels throughout employment.
• Complete routine maintenance and assigned cleaning duties.
• Maintain inventories and care for Shalom Austin property and equipment; keep supervisor informed of necessary materials and supplies for daily operations and program conduct.
• Monitor and record safety checks in compliance with Shalom Austin, state and local guidelines.

Requirements:

• 1 year of lifeguarding experience preferred.
• Pass all required criminal history background checks, which may include an FBI fingerprint check.
• Adhere to Shalom Austin’s Mission, Core Values, and all HR policies and procedures.

Preferred

Education and Experience:

• Must be at least sixteen (16) years of age and have at least one year of customer service/public service experience. Aquatic facility experience is preferred.
• Must possess or obtain before beginning work:
  American Red Cross Lifeguard/First Aid certification, Waterpark certification, CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer certification, and Administering Emergency Oxygen certification.
• American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification is preferred.
