The Swim Coach is responsible for supporting the development and training of the club’s swimming activities while also providing individual swimming lessons to members and guests. The role works closely with the aquatics team to ensure a safe, engaging, and enjoyable experience for members and guests. The Swim Coach helps swimmers improve their skills in a supportive environment that consistently exceeds member expectations.
Maintaining safety, fostering a positive atmosphere, and delivering high‑quality instruction are key components of this role.
- Reports to the Director Aquatics or Fitness Director
- May report to the Manager Aquatics in the absence of the Director Aquatics
- Connect with members regularly and promote aquatic club activities
- Provide personalized service by providing towels and water service during member use of the aquatic facilities
- Promote facility amenities, programs, and the club while maintaining a high level of professionalism and service, including wearing a club‑approved uniform and nametag
- Assist in designing swim practices as outlined by the manager and maintain supervision of the group, including monitoring development for swimmers
- Attend swimming meets and warm‑up sessions as scheduled
- Assist in setting up the pool for training sessions while ensuring the area remains accessible for non‑swimming team members
- Help oversee daily assignments to uphold club standards and align with Star Service FOCUS expectations, including maintaining orderly and organized work spaces, tidying the entry area, and ensuring aquatics facilities are well‑stocked and arranged
- Assist others as needed and take on additional tasks as assigned by management
- Follow all company, club, and department policies, procedures, and instructions
- Maintain a high level of professionalism and commitment to excellence in interactions with members, colleagues, and staff
- Follow safe working practices, ensuring compliance with safety guidelines and encouraging others to do the same
- Take initiative in personal and professional growth and maintain any required certifications relevant to the role
- Address and resolve challenges using available resources, working with regional and corporate teams to support club operations
- Attend daily briefings and actively engage in required activities
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 3 years of experience coaching swimmers of various ages and skill levels
- ASCA or USA Swimming certified
- CPR, first aid, and AED certification within the last 6 months
- Effective communication with staff, members, and guests
- Frequent swimming, sitting, standing, walking, and driving
- Occasional exposure to temperature changes, dust, fumes, or gases
- Squatting, kneeling, reaching, grasping, twisting, and bending
Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 100 lbs. on occasion - Talking, hearing, and seeing
- Swim cap, goggles, fins, noodles, whistles, etc.
- First aid kits and safety signage
- Lifeguard equipment
- Smartphones or tablets
- Office supplies
- Adherence to attendance requirements as outlined in the weekly schedule
- Flexibility to work additional hours as needed to meet position deadlines
- Availability to work on weekends and/or holidays as required
