Purpose: Responsible for duties associated with a Division I Football program including assisting the Head Coach with prospect evaluation, recruiting, training, coaching, competing successfully, Student-Athlete academic achievement, conduct and welfare, compliance with Governing Athletics Rules and University Rules, scheduling assistance, and overall effective performance of the program’s student-athletes.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the Head Coach with systems and strategies used on the field, plan practice and training schedules, select team members, assign positions, scout opponents, break down video, and all other matters related to preparation, practice, and playing of games.
  • Assist the Head Coach with prospective Student-Athlete recruiting, including recruiting contacts, evaluations, official visits, telephone calls, other communications, and travel-related activities of prospective student-athletes.
  • Perform certain services in connection with football camps and clinics as may be assigned by the Head Coach.
  • Represent the Athletics Department and UT Austin at alumni, donor, and departmental functions/events.
  • Consistently exemplify Texas Athletics core values and quality service standards; act ethically; seek guidance when uncertain; participate in education and training; comply with all laws, policies, and regulations of the Board of Regents, UT Austin, NCAA, Conference, or other governing bodies.
  • Conform to Title IX provisions as a Non‑Confidential Employee; report incidents to the Title IX Coordinator or Deputy Title IX Coordinator as required.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Successful experience as an assistant or head football coach at an elite high school, college, or pro level.
  • Experience with on‑campus recruiting visits of prospective student‑athletes.
  • Thorough knowledge of NCAA recruiting, academic, and administrative rules and regulations for collegiate football programs.
  • Experience in a championship‑quality collegiate environment.
  • Ability to collaborate with staff and provide critical thinking and consultation to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Professional demeanor and ability to project the image of the University of Texas and the Athletics Department with dignity and grace.
  • Effective communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills to enhance interactions with student‑athletes, peers, alumni, administrative personnel, and the community.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience coaching in a championship‑quality collegiate environment.
  • Experience with off‑ and on‑campus recruiting of prospective student‑athletes.
  • Thorough knowledge of NCAA recruiting, academic, and administrative rules and regulations for collegiate football programs.
