What You'll Do- Operate the unit or area with a focus on safety, environmental responsibility, reliability, and productivity, aligned with business and site goals.
- Supervise a reasonable number of people and be accountable for performance management, coaching, and career development.
- Determine appropriate staffing and assignment of operators.
- Ensure accurate and complete recording of asset utilization and losses.
- Ensure safe and efficient execution of unit tasks and activities.
- Manage operational overtime in alignment with unit requirements and constraints.
- Lead and coach shift teams to meet business and plant goals.
- Maintain operating discipline and ensure the Procedure Use Policy is followed.
- Implement and ensure effectiveness of work processes, standard work practices, and operating discipline.
- Create an environment that empowers the team and individuals.
- Complete performance management requirements to maximize shift personnel contributions.
- Share knowledge and best practices with operators.
- Promote the CORE 4 principles within the unit.
- Perform or support simple problem solving, formal root cause analyses, and the 4-step core problem solving principles.
- Participate in root cause investigations as necessary.
- Encourage shift team members to develop skills and knowledge to improve individual and unit performance.
- Assist shift teams in value assessing tasks and activities.
- Assist the Training Coordinator in developing skills and competencies for safe operator care and determine optimum staffing.
- High School Diploma
- 15 years of operational experience within a chemical plant, with 3 years as a shift manager required
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills
- Experience directly training operators
- Knowledge and experience using Continuous Improvement Tools
