Provide support to the classroom and assist OASIS teachers in achieving student learning objectives per Individualized Education Plan (IEP). Specific duties include working with students or small groups to help them maintain class skill levels, assisting with classroom management, implementing behavior plans, and attending to special health care needs.
Essential Functions- Maintain the schedule developed by the supervising teacher and/or OASIS Coordinator.
- Work with individual or small groups of students to reinforce learning introduced by the teacher.
- Use de‑escalation techniques when behaviors and emotions are escalated, under the teacher’s direction.
- Prepare the classroom or learning environment with needed supplies and materials.
- Participate in in‑service training programs, such as Nonviolent Crisis Intervention.
- Assist with student supervision during emergency drills.
- Maintain records and collect data as directed by the teacher.
- Maintain the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of student information expected of licensed teachers.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by the principal.
- Education:
High school diploma or GED required; advanced work in special education preferred. - Skills:
Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, parents, and volunteers. - Experience:
None required; classroom experience preferred. - Certification:

Ability to maintain a positive relationship with pupils, staff, parents, and the community.
Regularly required to sit, stand, use hands to handle objects, talk or hear, walk, reach with hands and arms, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds. Required visual capabilities include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to focus.
