Westside Music Academy is a privately owned music school on the west side of Indianapolis. Our mission is to enrich our community by helping students cultivate a lifelong passion for the universal language of music. We currently have 10 staff members and see over 200 students weekly for private and group music lessons. Due to a recent boom in enrollment, we are seeking multiple teachers across multiple proficiencies.
Role Description
This is a part-time, on-site role for a Music Teacher specializing in Piano, Voice, Brass, Woodwinds, and/or Percussion. The position is based in Avon, IN. The Music Teacher will be responsible for teaching music lessons to individuals or groups, preparing students for recitals and performances, and fostering a positive and engaging learning environment. Additional responsibilities include developing lesson plans tailored to each student’s needs and goals, assessing progress, and providing constructive feedback to support skill development and overall musical growth.
We anticipate needing multiple teachers to fill all of the proficiencies.
Qualifications
- Solid foundation in Music Theory, with the ability to teach foundational and advanced concepts
- Experience or proficiency in Music Performance is essential
- Proven skills or experience in Music Education and teaching methods
- Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities, with a passion for mentoring and inspiring students
- Ability to work well with students of different ages and skill levels as well as with colleagues
- Formal training in music and a degree in Music or a related field is required
- Flexibility to work part-time with the opportunity for full-time and accommodate student schedules
- Prior teaching experience and familiarity with recitals and music events is necessary
