Educational Requirements

Primary Job Functions

Provides support to the classroom and assists the classroom or resource teacher in achieving student learning objectives per Individualized Education Plan (IEP). Specific duties will include working with individual students or small groups to help them achieve and maintain the skill levels of the class as a whole. Will also assist with classroom management and implement student specific behavior plans as appropriate as well as providing for special health care needs.

ASST-F + Impact Add-on - Hourly pay starting at $19.25.

Qualifications
  • Educational Requirements:

    High school diploma or GED required. Advanced work in special education preferred.
  • Skills and Knowledge:

Essential Functions
  • Maintains schedule as developed by supervising teacher.
  • Works with individual or small groups of students to reinforce learning of materials or skills initially introduced by the teacher.
  • Utilizes de-escalation techniques when behaviors and emotions are escalated, at the direction of the teacher.
  • Prepares classroom or learning environment with needed supplies and materials.
  • Accompanies students to general education and special area classes and supports them in those areas.
  • Participates in in-service training program directed at supporting behavior, such as Nonviolent Crisis Intervention.
  • Assists with supervision of students during emergency drills.
  • Maintains records and collects data as directed by the teacher.
  • Maintains the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected of fully licensed teachers.
  • Performs other such tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as the principal may assign.
Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand and use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk, reach with hands and arms, climb, balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance, vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.
