Job Overview

Pharmacy Technicians support store pharmacy teams by ensuring medications are dispensed safely, accurately, and with exceptional patient service. The position requires a rigorous training program, state licensing, and adherence to all pharmacy SOPs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Follow all company SOPs at each workstation to help pharmacists manage and improve patient health.
  • Adhere to pharmacy workflow procedures at each pharmacy workstation (production, pick‑up, drive‑thru, and drop‑off) for safe and accurate prescription fulfillment.
  • Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and genuine care; create heartfelt moments while serving patients at pick‑up, drive‑thru, and over the phone; offer immunizations and other services; and demonstrate compassionate care by solving or escalating patient problems.
  • Complete basic inventory activities such as accurately putting away medication deliveries, completing cycle counts, returns‑to‑stocks, and waiting‑bin inventories.
  • Collaborate with a high‑performing team, embrace a growth mindset, and seek opportunities to expand clinical and technical knowledge to better assist patients.
  • Maintain flexibility for scheduling and business needs; voluntarily travel to stores in the market to work shifts as required.
  • Understand and comply with all relevant federal, state, and local laws, regulations, professional standards, and ethical principles. Follow CVS policies and procedures to ensure patient safety, controlled substance dispensing compliance, and patient privacy protection.
  • Deliver additional patient health care services (e.g., immunizations, point‑of‑care testing, and voluntarily staffing off‑site clinics) where allowable by law and supported by required training and certification.
Immunization Support (if permitted)
  • Complete additional licensure and training requirements to obtain Technician Immunizer status.
  • Educate patients about the importance of vaccines and refer vaccination questions to the pharmacist‑on‑duty.
  • Monitor for and respond to adverse reactions; report events per public health requirements.
  • Collect, review, and document patient information for each applicable patient.
  • Monitor and manage vaccine supplies.
Required Qualifications
  • Comply with state board of pharmacy requirements or laws governing pharmacy practice, including age, education, and licensure/certification.
  • State‑level licensure and national certification requirements vary by state –  to learn more.
  • Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
  • Ability to complete required training within the designated timeframe.
  • Strong attention and focus: concentrate on tasks, pivot quickly, confirm prescription info and label accuracy.
  • Customer service and team orientation: help people in a friendly manner, read patient reactions, and respond appropriately.
  • Effective communication skills: use and understand verbal and written communication, listen actively, and ask clarifying questions.
  • Mathematical reasoning: calculate tablets to dispense, day’s supply, and portions needed.
  • Problem resolution: identify challenging interactions and choose best actions.
  • Physical demands: mobile, upright for extended periods, lift items up to 20 lbs, reach overhead, and use hands for fine tasks.
  • Perform additional tasks as directed by Supervisor or Manager.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1–3 years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician.
  • Previous experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting.
  • Ability to work in the home store and across the market in other locations to meet business needs.
Schedule & Availability
  • Sunday: 11 am – 5 pm
  • Monday – Friday: 10 am – 7 pm
  • Saturday: 11 am – 5 pm
  • Weekend shift frequency: every third weekend required.
  • Shifts are flexible.
Compensation and Benefits

Pay Range: $16.50 – $25.00 per hour. The actual base salary will depend on experience, education, geography, and other factors.
