Position Summary

The Coordinator, Fine Arts will be responsible for planning, delivering, supervising and monitoring designed fine arts programs for assigned branch.

Essential Functions
  • Responsible for running, planning and scheduling all aspects of assigned fine arts programs which may include but not limited to Cheerleading, Gymnastics (tumbling) and Dance programs.
  • Assist with recruiting, developing, and coordinating all volunteers & staff members within assigned programs.
  • Ensure all program participants have the appropriate registration, waivers and payments to participate.
  • Ensure the safety of all participants, knows emergency procedures and the location of emergency equipment.
  • Maintain positive rapport with participants and parents.
  • Represent YMCA in appropriate business & community groups, providing timely publicity, developing working relationships with local schools and other community groups as directed by supervisor.
  • Conduct programs in accordance with YMCA of Greater Cleveland standards and guidelines.
  • Promote and incorporate YMCA core values and character development model into all program activities and assist supervisor with development and implementation of programming for designated sessions.
  • Notify supervisor of any problems relating to program outcomes, impact, tracking and overall class performance.
  • Gather periodic participants feedback through distribution of written evaluations provided by the Program Director.
  • Be actively and visibly involved with members, volunteers, and staff in a positive, friendly manner that demonstrates YMCA core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.
  • Follow all established policies and procedures, including, but not limited to, safety practices and personnel policies.
  • Participate in and support association events and fund-raising activities.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work environment.
  • Supervise employees in assigned accountabilities, monitor site operation and scheduling, and verify time sheets and actual hours worked.
  • Identify training needs and initiate development activities of supervises. Recommend effective personnel management actions such as employee counseling.
  • Secure and maintain required trainings and/or certifications necessary for the position.
  • Ensure new employees complete orientation and training according to established guidelines and provide on-the-job training as required by supervisors.
  • Ensure duties, responsibilities and accountabilities of all direct reports are defined and understood, and confirm individual understanding of performance standards.
  • Notify Human Resources Department of job openings, follow hiring and interview process, make final selections, and maintain qualified staff.
  • Keep employees informed about association and branch events, plans and progress on organizational goals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications Education

High school diploma required;
Associate’s Degree preferred.

Experience
  • Minimum of 2 years experience teaching cheerleading, tumbling, or other gymnastic-related programs.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in staff supervision.
  • Sales or marketing experience a plus.
Certification(s) And Requirements
  • Attend all annual training.
  • Obtain and maintain a valid 1/USASF membership.
  • Certified Level 1 training in Tumbling, Cheerleading and/or other gymnastic-level programs; must obtain within the first 6 months of employment, with potential extension based on training availability per supervisor approval.
  • CPR and First Aid certification and safety training required within 30 days of hire.
Technical Skills and Knowledge
  • Program expertise to instruct/lead classes and teams when assigned instruction is unavailable.
  • Understand Gym Certification Program qualifications.
  • Excellent computer skills and experience with standard Microsoft business software.
  • Demonstrated strong customer service skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self‑motivated team player.
  • Commitment to the mission and cause of the YMCA, upholding its values and ethics.
  • Ability to work effectively with people of different backgrounds, abilities, opinions, and perceptions.
  • Willingness and ability to be a mandated reporter for signs or suspicion of child abuse and neglect. All employees must follow the child abuse and neglect reporting process, completing the Suspected Child Abuse/Neglect reporting form, calling children protective services (696‑KIDS), and notifying the immediate supervisor, branch executive, risk management, and human resources department.
