Overview

Teacher Residency Candidate -  SY at AVONDALE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL DISTRICT.

Role: Teacher Residency Candidate -  SY. This is a candidate teaching role with development through the Teacher Advancement Program (TAP) and collaboration with mentor and master teachers.

• Participate in the TAP teacher instructionally focused accountability system.
• Meet College/University program requirements and participate in ongoing applied professional growth groups (clusters) at AESD and the college/university.
• Participate in the TAP team-teaching/coaching model with mentor and master teachers to enhance teaching expertise.
• Collaborate on lesson planning and develop expertise across all instructional areas with mentor and master teachers.
• Develop an Individual Growth Plan (IGP) and use formal and informal assessments to monitor student progress toward school achievement goals.
• Use all available resources to support instructional programs and align lessons to district curriculum and state standards.
• Demonstrate strong content knowledge and connect learning across subject areas; assist in designing and implementing individualized education programs (IEPs) through diagnostic teaching and behavior management techniques.
• Deliver instruction with clear objectives, effective modeling, guided practice, closure, and independent practice; employ questioning and higher-order thinking strategies.
• Adapt lessons to meet diverse student needs; integrate educational technology; maintain positive, respectful student interactions and high expectations for achievement.
• Maintain organized instructional groups and appropriate supervision of volunteers and paraprofessionals; ensure a safe, well-managed learning environment and timely record-keeping in line with district, state, and federal timelines.
• Communicate effectively with students, peers, staff, and administration; participate in professional growth activities and establish efficient systems for non-instructional duties to minimize instructional time loss.

• Valid Arizona teaching certificate (must meet all Arizona Department of Education certification requirements by start date).
• Must be enrolled in a Teacher Candidate Program with an approved college or university.
