Responsibilities
  • Assemble construction plans and prepare submittals for reviewing agencies.
  • Organize and schedule work to accomplish goals on projects within established budgets and timelines.
  • Coordinate with CAD Techs and other design team members.
  • Potential responsibility for full design for smaller/simpler projects or performing task‑oriented design of more complex projects.
  • Research and conform to applicable city/agency design guidelines, codes, and checklists.
  • Research and acquire as‑built info for the horizontal and vertical design to existing constraints.
  • Coordinate with other consultants on a design team.
  • Perform vertical grading design and earthwork analysis.
  • Prepare drainage calculations.
  • Assist with the preparation of feasibility studies.
  • Prepare quantity takeoffs and cost estimates.
  • Ensure quality control and work with CAD staff to ensure plans reflect the project design.
  • Perform various other design tasks.
  • Establish and improve standards, practices, guidelines, and specifications.
  • Provide real‑time advice and decisions, technical in nature and cost estimates as needed to the project managers.
  • Review and direct revisions to design packages as required.
  • Show excellent attention to detail.
  • Takes pride in work and takes initiative to expand knowledge base.
  • Review as‑builds, submittals and redlines.
  • Coordinate with all disciplines involved (Architectural, Mechanical, Electrical, and Structural), including outside consultants and contractors.
  • Act as the technical interface with code officials and contractors and customers.
  • Use the latest version of Revit and/or AutoCAD to prepare design drawings with plans and details as designated by the engineering team.
  • Work well in a team environment.
  • Participate in meetings with customers and owners to review the scope of work, discuss ways to reduce costs, and provide value engineering ideas.
  • Problem‑solving and critical‑thinking skills when designing/developing engineered drawings.
  • Coordinate changes and gather information from various resources to enable correct information flow.
Minimum Requirements
  • Licensed Civil Engineer in Arizona.
  • Experience in land development or site/commercial preferred.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience required; 8+ years preferred with progressive technical experience.
  • Technical input for multiple projects with proven success providing technical oversight on projects that meet contract specifications and technical standards to the client on time and within budget.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD is required;
    Civil 3D is preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite is required, and high adaptability to learning new software and technology.
  • Possess a fundamental understanding of civil engineering principles and construction plans.
  • Strong understanding of construction plan preparation and details.
  • Possess advanced knowledge of design standards, principles and practices.
  • Professionally perform multiple, detailed‑oriented tasks with simultaneous deadlines.
  • Ability to work both individually and with a team.
  • Ability to give and take direction.
  • Solid writing and organization skills.
  • Team player with the ability to work well under pressure.
  • Understanding the importance of excellent customer service and maintaining a positive attitude.
  • Ability to work in a clean room environment.
  • Authorized to work in the U.S.
