- Receive and manage 30+ flags daily from the surgery scheduler in EMR
- Complete clearances timely by contacting patients to confirm completion of requested tests, PCP/specialists offices to request faxed documents, including clearance letters, labs, chest X-rays, and EKGs to be faxed.
- Regularly monitor the clearance fax folder for incoming documents.
- Manage frequent calls, which may include up to 10 calls per patient or specialist office. Leave messages for clinics, follow up on calls, and handle situations where hold times are lengthy
- Communicate with various members of the patient support team on any delays in clearances
- Update patient charts and tracker as clearances are received, follow up with offices if clearances not received by the pre-op date.
- Continuously manage and progress through the task list to ensure all responsibilities are met efficiently.
- Willingness to travel across multiple sites.
- Must have reliable transportation.
- Knowledge of examination, diagnostic, and treatment room procedures.
- Working knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy.
- Familiarity with equipment and instruments necessary to deliver patient care.
- Knowledge of handling blood products and disposing of contaminated items.
- Knowledge of universal precautions.
- Ability to take vital signs and record results.
- Understand/Perform training on electronic medical record software.
- Continue to expand knowledge of electronic medical record software as updates occur.
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program.
- Current CPR certification.
