Plant Engineer Opportunity with the Civil Works Alliance (CWA), Supporting Sizewell C
As part of the CWA (Civil Works Alliance), you will support the building of Sizewell
C. Sizewell C will be a 3.2-gigawatt power station generating low-carbon electricity for around 6 million homes and will play a key role in our energy future, supplying reliable, clean electricity for at least 60 years.
This role will be within the Marine and Tunnels Section.
What will you do?
Plant Asset Management Maintain an accurate register of all company plant, machinery, tools, and equipment.
Record the allocation, movement, servicing history, and disposal of plant assets.
Monitor plant utilisation and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce downtime.
Ensure all plant documentation is maintained and readily available.
Maintenance Planning Develop, implement, and monitor planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedules for all plant and equipment.
Track statutory inspections, servicing requirements, calibrations, and certification expiry dates.
Coordinate repairs and maintenance with internal teams and external service providers.
Maintain maintenance records and produce reports on equipment performance and reliability.
Respond to equipment breakdowns and support root cause analysis and corrective actions where required.
RAMS Preparation Prepare and review Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) for plant-related activities.
Ensure RAMS comply with company procedures, client requirements, and relevant health and safety legislation.
Liaise with operational teams to ensure safe systems of work are understood and implemented.
Procurement and Materials Management Order plant, equipment, spare parts, consumables, and materials as required.
Obtain quotations and liaise with approved suppliers to achieve best value.
Monitor stock levels of critical spare parts and consumables.
Ensure purchase orders and delivery records are accurately maintained.
Compliance Ensure plant and equipment comply with relevant legislation, industry standards, and manufacturer recommendations.
Maintain records relating to LOLER, PUWER, inspections, certifications, and other statutory requirements where applicable.
Support internal and external audits relating to plant and equipment.
Administration and Reporting Maintain accurate electronic and paper records of maintenance, inspections, repairs, and asset information.
Produce regular reports on maintenance compliance, equipment availability, costs, and asset performance for the Plant Manager.
Provide regular updates to the Plant Manager on plant utilisation, maintenance status, asset performance, procurement activities, and any operational issues requiring attention.
Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance plant reliability and operational efficiency.
What are we looking for?
Essential Experience in plant engineering, plant management, maintenance coordination, or a similar engineering role.
Knowledge of planned preventative maintenance (PPM) systems.
Experience preparing Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS).
Good understanding of plant maintenance principles and asset management.
Strong organisational and administrative skills.
Competent in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and experience using maintenance or asset management software.
Good communication and problem-solving skills.
Full UK driving licence.
Desirable HNC/HND or degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Plant Engineering (or equivalent experience).
Knowledge of LOLER, PUWER, and other relevant health and safety legislation.
IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent health and safety qualification.
Experience with in construction, utilities, infrastructure, or industrial environments.
