Time-based maintenance, the Maintenance Engineer will perform maintenance checks at regular intervals and acts preventively to avoid situations from arising that may compromise the proper functioning of machinery and equipment, e.g. replacing worn components, lubricating gears, motors, pumps and mechanical moving parts, changing out dull tools, calibrating instruments and replacing filters, gears, valves, tubes and cables. As a Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible & accountable for making sure machinery and equipment run smoothly.
You will work in manufacturing as well as facilities maintenance. You will ensure the equipment / assets are kept in the optimum running condition; however your work will be both preventative, predictive or breakdown maintenance. You will be required to record all maintenance activities on the company CMMS (Computer Maintenance Management System) The role will also require understanding and lead the efforts on OEE, as one of the major factors of OEE is Availability (Downtime) Respond immediately to machinery breakdowns, with the aim of getting the equipment up and running in the quickest time possible, ensure Health & Safety, Environmental and Quality requirements are met.
Ensure all maintenance activity is recorded through the CMMS. Drawing maintenance strategies, procedures, and undertaking scheduled maintenance. Carrying out routine maintenance work and responding to equipment failures. Diagnosing equipment breakdown, repairing, and making sure equipment is working correctly. Carrying out maintenance on mechanical systems and electrical equipment. Performing periodic inspections on the plant machinery and automated systems. Scheduling planned and preventive maintenance work.
Repairing and/or replacing broken or defective components Checking repaired components and machinery to ensure normal functionality has been restored. Ensuring there is continuous cover of the machinery and equipment in case of breakdowns. Organizing and undertaking routine checks of equipment, as well as carrying out quality inspections, analyzing the efficiency of current procedures and suggesting improvements to improve them. Effective maintenance methods and strategies, Identifying and investigating faults, repairing equipment, Upgrading and modifying systems, Monitoring the performance of machinery and systems.
Acquiring new, specialist components, fitting and calibrating new parts and systems, including overhauling and replacing parts according to schedule, ensuring all systems comply with the latest health and safety legislation, Liaising with colleagues as well as clients and customers. Monitoring maintenance costs, managing stocks of supplies. / Spares, organizes the departmental resources to meet the scheduled checks on machinery and parts, finding and fixing faults and recalibrating instruments.
