Technical Manager - Food Manufacturing (East Devon)

Salary: £45,000 per annum

Shift: Monday to Friday, or Monday to Thursday (condensed hours)

Overtime: Paid extra for any hours above contracted hours

Butler Rose are delighted to have been exclusively appointed for our client, a highly regarded and award‑winning food manufacturer based in the East Devon area, to support with the recruitment of a Technical Manager. This is an exciting opportunity to join a small and dedicated team that prides itself on collaboration, quality, and innovation.

As Technical Manager
, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining the site's quality systems and leading new product development (NPD) projects. You'll ensure compliance with food safety standards and regulatory requirements while driving continuous improvement across all aspects of production.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and improve the site's technical and quality management systems.
  • Ensure compliance with BRCGS standards and support audit readiness.
  • Lead the HACCP process, including regular reviews and updates.
  • Oversee supplier and internal audits, non‑conformance management, and product testing.
  • Support and develop the Quality Team to deliver on‑site standards.
  • Take a lead role in exciting NPD projects, ensuring new products are safe, legal, and high‑quality.
  • Collaborate cross‑functionally with production and operations teams to support business objectives.
The Ideal Candidate
  • Experience in a technical or quality management role within the food or beverage sector.
  • Strong understanding of food safety systems (HACCP Level 3+ and Food Safety qualifications desirable).
  • Knowledge of BRCGS or equivalent food manufacturing standards.
  • Excellent communication, organisation, and problem‑solving skills.
  • A hands‑on, collaborative approach with a keen eye for detail.
