A leading civil engineering contractor delivering works on a major UK infrastructure project is seeking an experienced Agent to join the team on a freelance/contract basis in Buckinghamshire.

This role offers the opportunity to lead the delivery of complex civil engineering works on a high-profile infrastructure scheme, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality project execution.

The Role

Reporting to the Project Manager, you will take responsibility for managing site operations, engineering teams, subcontractors, and project delivery activities across a designated section of works.

Key responsibilities include:

Managing the safe and successful delivery of civil engineering works from construction through to completion
Leading site teams including engineers, supervisors, and subcontractors
Coordinating labour, plant, materials, and resources to achieve programme targets
Ensuring works are delivered in line with quality, safety, environmental, and contractual requirements
Monitoring project progress, costs, and productivity
Reviewing and implementing construction methodologies and temporary works requirements
Managing short-term planning, reporting, and site documentation
Identifying and resolving technical and operational challenges on site
Building strong working relationships with internal teams, stakeholders, and subcontractors
Supporting commercial activities including forecasting, change management, and cost control

The successful candidate will have:

HNC/HND or Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction, or a related discipline
Proven experience working as an Agent or Senior Sub Agent on major civil engineering or infrastructure projects
Strong background in civil engineering disciplines such as earthworks, drainage, utilities, highways, or heavy structures
Excellent leadership, organisational, and communication skills
Experience managing subcontractors and multidisciplinary site teams
Good understanding of NEC contracts and construction delivery processes
A valid CSCS card (Black - Manager preferred)
SMSTS certification
Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
