Setting Out Engineer – Permanent – Aylesbury – Salary Negotiable, Dependent on Experience, with Vehicle, Phone, and Progression RICS Training.

This business works with clients across the country and abroad, delivering precise, high‑quality survey solutions across the full spectrum of property and construction. From topographical and utility surveys to measured building surveys and large‑scale infrastructure monitoring, the team is trusted on some of the sector's most demanding projects.
With a strong reputation for technical accuracy and a genuine investment in staff development, the company continues to meet the demand of ongoing projects, and is now looking for a Setting Out Engineer to join the team, working on the high‑profile HS2 project. Reporting into the wider project team, the successful Setting Out Engineer will play a key role in supporting the planning, execution, and delivery of survey work on this major infrastructure scheme.
- Carry out setting out, levelling, and site control establishment
- Produce as‑built surveys, monitoring data, and cut/fill calculations
- Support surveyors and assistant surveyors throughout survey planning and delivery
- Liaise directly with clients and stakeholders while working on site
- Manage survey equipment and resources per company procedures
- Prepare safety‑critical paperwork and uphold strong health and safety standards
- Mentor and train junior staff as an experienced Setting Out Engineer
- Work confidently under minimum supervision to meet tight deadlines
- Minimum 5 years' industry experience, including 2 years setting out
- Strong working knowledge of Total Stations and AutoCAD software
- Proven experience in levelling, site control, and as‑built surveys
- Comfortable working independently with excellent time management skills
- Full UK driving licence essential
- Adaptable, detail‑focused, and confident undertaking varied technical tasks
- Strong communication skills for liaising with clients and stakeholders
