We are looking for a dynamic and engaging Sociology Teacher to join a high-achieving secondary school in Aylesbury ASAP.

Your Role
As a Sociology Teacher, you will play a key role in helping students understand society and social behaviour, exploring topics such as culture, identity, education, crime, and social inequality. Your lessons will encourage debate, analysis, and independent thinking, supporting students to achieve strong academic outcomes and a deeper understanding of the world around them.

Key Responsibilities
Lesson Planning:
Plan and deliver engaging lessons in line with the Sociology curriculum, using a variety of teaching strategies and resources.

Encourage Critical Thinking:
Create a classroom environment where students feel confident to discuss, debate, and critically analyse sociological theories and research.

Assess Student Progress:
Regularly assess and monitor student progress, providing clear feedback and targeted support to help students meet and exceed expectations.

Literacy and Research

Skills:

Support students in developing strong written, research, and evaluative skills within Sociology.

Collaborative Teamwork:
Work closely with colleagues to contribute to departmental planning, whole-school initiatives, and enrichment opportunities.

What We’re Looking For

Qualifications:

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.

Experience:

Proven experience teaching Sociology at KS4 (KS5 experience is desirable but not essential).

Subject Knowledge:
Strong subject knowledge of Sociology, including key theories, research methods, and contemporary issues.

Classroom Management:
Excellent communication and behaviour management skills, with the ability to maintain a positive learning environment.

Passion for Sociology: A genuine passion for Sociology and for inspiring students to engage with social issues and critical thinking.
