An exciting opportunity has arisen for a caring, enthusiastic, and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school in Aylesbury that supports young people aged 11-19 with complex learning difficulties, including severe learning difficulties (SLD) and profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD). About

The Role
  • Support students aged 11-19 with complex learning difficulties, including SLD and PMLD, both in and out of the classroom.
  • Work closely with teachers and other professionals to deliver personalised learning programmes.
  • Encourage student participation, engagement, and independence in learning activities.
  • Provide support with communication, social development, sensory needs, and life skills.
  • Assist with the preparation of learning resources and classroom activities.
  • Support students with personal care and medical needs where required, following appropriate training and guidance.
  • Help create a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Contribute to the monitoring and recording of student progress and achievements.
About You
  • Have experience working with children or young people with special educational needs, or a genuine desire to develop a career within specialist education.
  • Be patient, compassionate, and committed to supporting students with complex needs.
  • Have excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Be flexible, resilient, and able to adapt to the individual needs of students.
  • Demonstrate a positive attitude and a willingness to learn.
  • Hold GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths at Grade C/4 or above (desirable).
