SEMH Teaching Assistant - Primary School, Aylesbury

A supportive and welcoming primary school in Aylesbury is looking to appoint a SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) Teaching Assistant to join their team from September 2026.

This full-time, long-term role involves working 1:1 with a Year 2 pupil who presents with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

Responsibilities
  • Provide individual support to a Year 2 pupil with SEMH needs, ensuring their learning and well-being requirements are met.
  • Collaborate with the classroom teacher, Inclusion Manager and other support staff to develop and implement tailored learning plans.
  • Implement behaviour management strategies and maintain a positive, therapeutic learning environment.
  • Record and report on pupil progress, attendance and any behavioral incidents.
  • Participate in training and CPD to keep skills up to date with current best practice in SEMH support.
Ideal Candidate
  • Experience working as a SEN Teaching Assistant, particularly supporting pupils with SEMH needs.
  • Strong interpersonal and behaviour‑management skills.
  • Positive, empathetic, and patient approach.
