The role is based at Pathways Primary PRU in Aylesbury. It offers an opportunity to develop behaviour management skills and work with pupils in both the PRU and mainstream schools during the Autumn Term 2026. The successful candidate may also work at the PRU sites in Amersham and Wycombe.

Responsibilities
  • Lead small classes in the absence of the teacher.
  • Build trusting, trauma‑informed relationships with pupils and create a safe, nurturing classroom.
  • Work with pupils 1:1 and in small groups, supporting their learning in collaboration with teachers and other LSAs.
  • Lead outreach programmes for named pupils, developing effective working relationships with mainstream colleagues.
  • Contribute to the team by supporting and mentoring colleagues to share best practice.
  • Support pupils with complex SEND or SEMH needs, including challenging behaviour, in a special or primary school setting.
Qualifications
  • Experienced LSA, HLTA or cover supervisor, or equivalent experience in supporting children with complex needs.
  • Strong understanding of trauma‑informed practice and the impact of adverse childhood experiences on behaviour and learning.
  • Experience working with children with SEMH or complex SEND needs, preferably in a primary or special school setting.
  • Good organisational skills, able to take responsibility for small groups or one‑to‑one sessions and work alongside class teachers.
  • Innovative, highly motivated, with a positive attitude and the ability to adapt quickly to the PRU environment.
Benefits and Working Conditions

This is a permanent, term‑time only role. Weekly hours are at least three days a week, including a Wednesday, with hours from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm each working day. The salary range is £23,291 + dependent on experience. The role may be full‑time or part‑time as agreed.
