Graduate Mental Health Assistant

Are you a recent or soon-to-be graduate in Psychology, Criminology, or a related field, with ambitions to become an Educational Psychologist, Clinical Psychologist, Occupational Therapist, or Mental Health Support Worker?

Do you want to gain hands-on experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and mental health challenges in a school setting?

About the Role:

We are working with a welcoming and supportive primary school in Aylesbury, seeking dedicated Graduate Teaching Assistants to join their team in September 2026. This is an excellent opportunity to build meaningful experience working with children who have a range of additional needs, including:

  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH)
  • Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
  • ADHD
  • Behavioural difficulties

The school places a strong emphasis on consistency and commitment, so they are looking for individuals who can commit to the full academic year. This role is ideal for graduates looking to develop their practical skills before pursuing postgraduate training or further study in a related field.

What We're Looking For:

  • A recent graduate (or final-year student) in Psychology, Criminology, or a similar discipline
  • Passionate about supporting children with additional needs
  • Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable, but not essential
  • Strong interpersonal skills, patience, and emotional resilience
  • A genuine interest in education, mental health, or youth work
