ASAP / September Start Available UET1 About the Role A specialist SEN school in Aylesbury is seeking a dedicated and resilient KS2 SEN Teacher to join their primary team. This is a rewarding opportunity to work with pupils in Key Stage 2 who have Autism (ASC) and complex communication needs within a highly structured and supportive environment.
The pupils are predominantly non-verbal and present with a high degree of challenging behaviour, requiring a calm, consistent, and proactive approach. The school places a strong emphasis on communication, emotional regulation, functional learning, and developing independence through personalised learning programmes and positive behaviour support strategies.
Key Responsibilities Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to pupils with Autism and complex needs Create a structured, predictable, and nurturing classroom environment Support pupils' communication, emotional regulation, and social development Adapt teaching approaches to meet EHCP outcomes and individual learning targets Use visual supports, sensory strategies, and communication systems to maximise engagement Implement positive behaviour support plans and de-escalation strategies Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, therapists, and wider SEN professionals Monitor, assess, and report on pupil progress Contribute to annual reviews, EHCP meetings, and multidisciplinary planning What We’re Looking For Essential:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) Experience teaching children within a primary or SEN setting Strong behaviour management skills and confidence supporting pupils with challenging behaviour Ability to adapt learning to meet complex communication and learning needs Excellent communication and teamwork skills Patient, resilient, and consistent approach Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one) Desirable:
Experience xjnqpsq working with Autism (ASC) and non-verbal pupils Knowledge of PECS, Makaton, AAC, TEACCH, or sensory-based learning approaches Experience implementing positive behaviour support strategies
