School Support Worker

Are you an experienced Support Worker, Care Worker or Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting children and young people with additional needs?

Academics is currently recruiting a School Support Worker to work within a specialist educational setting in Aylesbury, supporting learners with autism, communication difficulties and complex needs.

This is an excellent opportunity for School Support Worker with experience in education, care, SEN or specialist support who are looking for flexible, part-time and as needed work in Aylesbury.

You will play an important role in helping learners feel safe, supported and able to engage with their education, including working with non-verbal learners and those with complex needs.

• Pay: £14.50-£15.00 per hour, depending on experience
• Hours:
  
  Part-time and flexible ; days can be discussed around your availability
• Contract:
  
  Temporary, ad-hoc work with opportunities for regular ongoing work
• Start:
  Immediate

As a School Support Worker, your role will include:

• Providing 1:1 and small-group support to learners with autism and additional needs
• Supporting non-verbal learners with communication, sensory activities and learning tasks
• Providing personal and intimate care where required
• Following individual learning and care plans
• Encouraging learners to participate positively in their education and daily routines
• Working closely with teachers, therapists and other professionals
• Helping to maintain a calm, safe, supportive and inclusive environment

• Right to work in the UK (sponsorship cannot be offered)
• Availability for part-time or flexible work
• Experience supporting autistic and/or non-verbal learners, ideally within a school, care or specialist setting
• Confidence and willingness to provide personal and intimate care
• A calm, patient and empathetic approach
• A genuine passion for supporting children and young people with additional needs
