Overview

We're looking for an experienced and dedicated Inclusion Specialist Teacher to join our SEND Service, supporting educational settings, children, young people and families to achieve the best possible outcomes. This is a rewarding opportunity to use your specialist knowledge, teaching expertise and leadership skills to drive inclusion, build capacity within schools and help ensure every child has the support they need to succeed.

Applications are particularly welcomed from teachers with specialist expertise in autism including relevant postgraduate qualifications and from those with significant experience supporting mainstream settings to enable neurodivergent children and young people to thrive.

The role is based within the North Locality Team (Aylesbury) but travel across the whole of Buckinghamshire can be expected.

You will support families by providing advice and guidance, helping them navigate available services and ensuring that the voices and needs of children and young people remain central to all decision‑making. In addition, you will contribute to the ongoing monitoring and review of educational provision, ensuring support remains effective and aligned to identified outcomes.

Working directly with mainstream schools and education professionals you will develop their skills and confidence in identifying, assessing and supporting pupils with SEND. Through coaching, training, modelling effective strategies and sharing specialist knowledge, you will help build sustainable expertise within schools and settings.

About Us

Buckinghamshire Council is one of the largest unitary councils in England, serving a diverse and ambitious county with thriving communities, excellent schools and a strong commitment to improving outcomes for children and young people. Formed in 2020, the Council brings together services across Buckinghamshire to deliver effective, joined‑up support for residents, businesses and local communities.

Buckinghamshire is a place where tradition and innovation sit side by side. From market towns and rural villages to vibrant business hubs, the county offers an exceptional quality of life, outstanding natural landscapes and excellent transport links to London, Oxford and the wider South‑East.

We offer a supportive working environment and opportunities to develop your expertise while making a meaningful difference to the lives of children, young people and their families across Buckinghamshire.

About the Role

You will join a supportive team of Inclusion Specialist Teachers and work alongside Education Health and Care plan Coordinators (EHCCos) and Educational Psychologists as part of the wider SEND Team.

As an Inclusion Specialist Teacher, you will play a key role in promoting the successful inclusion of children and young people with SEND across a range of mainstream schools. Working closely with schools, families and multi‑agency partners, you will provide specialist advice, guidance and support that enables children and young people to access high‑quality education and achieve the best possible outcomes.
