Engineering Manager

About the Role

EKFB is a joint venture that brings together international, market‑leading expertise from four leading civil engineering and construction companies:
Eiffage, Kier, Ferrovial and BAM Nuttall. All four partners have specialist expertise in the design, construction, operation, financing and maintenance of railway networks, including the construction of one of Europe’s latest high speed rail projects.

We are looking for an Engineering Manager in the Aylesbury area to work very closely with the Construction Director for day‑to‑day matters, in a site‑based role.

• Provide quasi‑independent design, technical and engineering oversight of all construction matters on behalf of the Contractor’s Engineering Director (SCEW) and Lead Designer (WI 300) to ensure proper execution by the construction delivery team.
• Review and accept RAMS (WPP) and ITPs on behalf of the CED.
• Oversee the management and execution of temporary works, leading and managing a team of Temporary Works Coordinators.
• Coordinate the integration and execution of permanent and temporary works designs, and provide technical support and guidance to the construction delivery teams, including SCEW matters, NCRs, short notice design changes (TQs, FCRs), materials approvals, shop drawing reviews, temporary works design reviews and testing (e.g. lab, materials management).
• Oversee the timely and accurate redlining of approved changes to the design by the construction delivery team and support or lead technical assurance activities (audit, surveillance, HS2 Technical Assurance Reviews).
• Lead, direct and manage the Construction Support as described in the ASC (DJV) Stage Two Scope (section 3 Construction Support Services).
• Agree with ASC on the strategy and implementation of a risk‑based approach for reviewing temporary works designs and shop drawings, and monitor performance of the ASC Construction Support team, including quarterly performance reviews and forecasting.
• Instruct changes in the scale and nature (location, grade and discipline blend) of the ASC Construction Support team, holding budgetary control and cost forecasting.

• Degree qualification in civil engineering or equivalent.
• Extensive experience in design and/or engineering management and delivery of major infrastructure projects.
• Chartered Civil or Structural Engineer.

EKFB is proud to have been appointed by HS2 to deliver civil engineering works across an 80 km section of the new high speed rail link between the Chiltern Tunnel and Long Itchington Wood, covering 15 viaducts, 5 km of green tunnels, 22 km of road diversions, 67 over bridges and around 30 million cubic metres of excavation.
