By joining us as a Woodland Creation Liaison Officer
, you’ll be at the heart of our Bucks Tree Mission to plant over half a million trees across Bucks! You’ll help shape the future of our county by identifying tree planting opportunities, coordinating subsidised tree giveaways and volunteer planting initiatives, and engaging with stakeholders across the county to plant more trees. This is a two year fixed term contract/secondment

About us

The Climate Response team sits within Planning & Environment and works across the whole range of climate mitigation and adaptation activity. We are a team of 3, focussed upon delivering the Council’s Climate Change & Air Quality Strategy. About the role

As a Woodland Creation Liaison Officer
, you’ll lead on delivering community tree planting projects across Buckinghamshire. From coordinating our subsidised tree scheme to working with private landowners, schools, businesses, and local councils, you’ll be at the heart of our mission. You’ll manage logistics, liaise with grant funding bodies, and ensure smooth delivery of planting and maintenance activities. This role also involves supporting large-scale woodland creation on council-owned land and maintaining accurate records to track our progress.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Planning and delivering tree giveaway schemes.
  • Building strong relationships with stakeholders and partners.
  • Coordinating logistics for tree planting and maintenance.
  • Providing expert advice and promoting tree planting initiatives.
  • Supporting grant applications and funding bids.
  • Maintaining a tree inventory for trees planted under the Bucks Tree Mission

Any-Desk:

As an ‘any-desk’ worker, you’ll need to be connected to our network to access digital folders and resources, but this can either be from home or an office location when required. You will be required to work from the office a couple of times a week, depending on your role and team requirements.

About you

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Passionate about the environment and committed to making a difference.
  • A strong communicator with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Experienced in project management and stakeholder engagement.
  • Organised, proactive, and able to manage multiple priorities.
  • Skilled in using Microsoft Office (GIS knowledge is a bonus).
  • Educated to NVQ Level 4/degree standard in a relevant field (or equivalent experience).

A full UK driving licence is essential, as you’ll be visiting sites across the county.
