About the role
As a Development Fire Safety Inspecting Officer, you will support Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service's statutory responsibility for regulating fire safety across non-domestic premises. You will work as part of a supportive and experienced Protection Team, and complete a programme of learning, assessments and supervised practice; developing the knowledge, skills and experience needed to become a competent Fire Safety Inspecting Officer.
Alongside your development, you will help businesses understand and comply with fire safety legislation through education, engagement and risk-based regulation.
The role includes
* Supporting Business Engagement activities, including working with partners, building campaigns and being part of digital engagement initiatives.
* Providing fire safety advice and guidance to businesses and Responsible Persons, helping them understand and comply with fire safety legislation
* Completing a structured development programme, progressing from supervised learning to increased responsibility as competence is demonstrated and you progress.
* Undertaking fire safety audits of simple premises,
* Supporting fire safety audits of more complex premises, statutory consultations and enforcement activity under appropriate supervision as qualifications and competence develop
* Responding to complaints and supporting consultations under Building Regulations, licensing and housing legislation
* Preparing reports, correspondence and recommendations in accordance with legislation, Service procedures and national guidance
* Maintaining accurate records on the Premises Risk Management System (PRMS) and contributing to the Service's Risk-Based Intervention Programme (RBIP)
