Full time vacancy

Thames Valley Police are looking for a self-motivated candidate who has a passion for serving victims of domestic abuse and seeking justice for them and the perpetrator. The Domestic Abuse Investigation Unit manage the most serious DA crimes and serious sexual assaults. You will be the Officer in the Case (OIC) and will see cases through to Crown Court trials.

This is a demanding but satisfying role where you will be working daily in a small team and can really make a difference.

Candidate must be a qualified PIP1 investigator and hold a driving licence.

The successful candidate will plan, coordinate and undertake investigations as tasked, utilising all available appropriate techniques and technologies to detect and reduce crime thereby bringing offenders to justice. Support the wider investigative team as and when required by providing resilience, supporting fast time investigations where appropriate. Ensure investigative actions are recorded and maintained via NICHE to ensure accuracy, scrutiny, timely completion and adherence to the Victims Code.

Capability to travel across the Force is required in order to undertake assignments in a timely manner and work flexibly. Due to unsocial hours and personal safety for lone working public transport may not be suitable. For this reason, a full driving licence is considered essential for this role.

This is an On Site role.

As part of the Thames Valley Police family, you will enjoy a fantastic range of benefits including 24 days annual leave per annum, pro-rata for part time (plus Bank Holidays), flexible working conditions, a wide range of lifestyle discounts, career development opportunities and have the option to join a local government pension scheme. For more information on our benefits, please visit the supporting you page, via the link at the bottom of the advert.

If you are a TVP employee and have you been in your current post for less than 12 months, you need to seek approval from your line manager to be eligible to apply for this role.

The closing date for enquiries and receipt of completed applications is Monday 31st August 2026.
