Job Overview
We are recruiting for a Head Housekeeper to join our team at the Whiteleaf Centre in Aylesbury, where you will manage housekeepers to ensure all service standards are met and maintained.
Responsibilities- Clean and maintain patient rooms, public areas, and back‑of‑house areas such as the linen room and laundry areas in accordance with the organisation’s policies and national cleanliness standards.
- Work closely with nursing staff to provide a clean and safe environment for patients and oversee catering provisions.
- Conduct localised inductions for all new staff members.
- Perform annual appraisals and monthly supervisions for managed staff.
- Authorise annual leave and manage sickness levels.
- Ensure all staff complete mandatory and task‑specific training in liaison with the Facilities co‑ordinator.
- Communicate policies and procedures required for task completion to all managed staff.
- Support the line manager with rotas and cleaning schedules.
- Maintain staffing levels to meet service requirements and report any issues to the line manager immediately.
- Manage stock levels for cleaning consumables, linen, and food, and notify the line manager of shortages for ordering.
- Record and retain all documentation required for food and cleaning services (e.g., temperature checks, cleaning task lists).
- Collate all timesheets and provide them to administration for turnaround documents.
- Carry out daily cleaning routines as scheduled.
- Perform terminal and enhanced cleans according to local procedures.
- Strong team player with prior experience in housekeeping, customer service, and rota management.
- Experience managing staff and developing cleaning schedules.
- Commitment to completing mandatory and statutory training related to the role.
- References covering three years of employment or study.
- Flexibility to work shifts (7:00‑15:00 and 10:30‑18:30), weekends, and bank holidays on a rolling rota, paid at an enhanced rate.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults.
- Ability to maintain accurate records and utilise evidence‑based cleaning techniques.
- Full‑time (37.5 hours per week) with shift work and weekend coverage, paid at an enhanced rate.
- 27 days annual leave plus bank holidays, rising to 33 days with continuous service.
