The Casual Technician Role
Casual technicians work as part of a team reporting to the Technical Manager, Chief Electrician or Stage Manager. You’ll work closely with visiting companies, touring teams and contractors as well as other ATG Entertainment venue staff. Working as part of the venue Technical Team you will support all productions and events programmed, ensuring their technical requirements are achieved. This role provides a professional, enabling and efficient service for all customers and visitors to ATG Entertainment’s venues.
Please note, your role may involve working with children or vulnerable people.
Key responsibilities- Welcome and assist visiting production technical staff and companies to the venue, ensuring they are treated appropriately and always as an important and valued client.
- Support the full-time technical staff in ensuring the smooth and efficient running of fit‑ups, shows and get‑outs, in line with company policy, current health and safety legislation and the requirements of the visiting production or event.
- Take pride in your working environment at all times ensuring that work areas are clean, tidy and safe. Under the direction of the full‑time technical staff assist as required in the inspection, servicing and maintenance of the stage machinery and production equipment.
- Work safely at all times, proactively identify risks to yourself, other colleagues and customers’ health, safety or security and take appropriate actions to keep everyone safe.
- Implement and comply with the company Health & Safety Policy, maintaining the safest possible environment for your colleagues, visiting companies and customers.
- Attend training as required developing skills and knowledge relevant to the role.
- Work collaboratively as a team member, working well with others to ensure all required tasks are completed. Maintain a can do, professional attitude.
- Proactively identify tasks which need to be done and take responsibility for completing them.

Essential- Some relevant experience in either stage, flying, wardrobe, lighting or sound environment. Working knowledge of current Health & Safety Regulations.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure.
- Problem solving skills and the ability to act on initiative.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to deliver a high level of customer service.
- Willingness to work the required hours, including evenings and late nights, weekends and public holidays.
- Physically able to lift and move technical equipment and scenic items safely and sensibly.
- Able to work at height which may include working on a grid and using ladders.
- Ability to work well as part of a team.
- Working knowledge of Counterweight Flying Systems.
- Knowledge of the lighting and sound equipment we frequently use.
- Experience operating Follow Spots.
- Computer Literacy.
- Numeracy Skills.
