This temporary Project Management Transformation Manager role in Buckinghamshire offers £850–£920 per day for a DV-cleared professional. The successful candidate leads delivery of large-scale, complex programmes, ensuring completion on schedule, within budget and to quality standards. Acting as subject matter expert, they embed consistent methodologies, tools and governance across project functions, partnering with the Strategic PMO and senior stakeholders. Hybrid working applies across the twelve‑month contract.

Applicants need Developed Vetting clearance plus substantial experience leading transformation programmes, strong assurance capabilities, stakeholder influence and a track record of delivery excellence within secure government or defence settings.

We’re looking for an experienced Senior Project Management and Change leader to drive the successful delivery of large-scale, complex programmes. In this high-impact role, you’ll ensure programmes are delivered on time, within budget and to agreed quality and performance standards, while acting as a trusted subject matter expert in project management methodologies, tools and governance. Working closely with senior stakeholders and the Strategic PMO, you will provide strategic leadership across project management functions, driving consistency, professionalism and delivery excellence.

You will apply robust governance and assurance frameworks to support effective decision‑making, improve project predictability, manage risk and strengthen organisational resilience. This is an opportunity to shape a high‑performing delivery culture focused on continuous improvement and exceptional customer outcomes.

Essential experience and qualifications:
  • - Significant experience leading change and continuous improvement within a complex, global project delivery environment, with a strong track record of meeting or exceeding customer, business and personal performance goals.
  • - Proven experience leading large‑scale project and programme delivery in the UK and overseas, with the ability to coordinate diverse skill sets across a complex organisation.
  • - Strong commercial acumen and financial management capability, combined with a pragmatic approach and a commitment to outstanding customer service.
  • - Strong understanding of governance, assurance, risk management and compliance frameworks.
  • - Excellent stakeholder management, influencing and communication skills, with confidence operating at senior levels.
  • - Expertise in applying recognised project management methodologies, such as PRINCE2, MSP or Agile.
  • - Relevant professional accreditation, such as PMP, APM Chartered Project Professional or MSP Practitioner.
Desirable experience:
  • - Experience working as part of a Strategic PMO function.
  • - Background in organisational transformation, change delivery or continuous improvement leadership.

  • - Monitor project performance, identifying areas of non‑compliance and taking corrective actions when required with Heads of Project Management.
  • Continuous Improvement
    - Identify process, capability, and delivery gaps, driving initiatives to enhance the overall maturity of the organisations project management.
