Trainee Gear Finishing and fitting Technician

Pay: £15.50–£18.50 per hour, depending on experience

Working hours: Standard day shift, Monday to Friday

Gibbs Gears is seeking a practical, detail-focused person to train in the finishing of precision gears and the fitting and assembly of transmission components.

This is an opportunity to learn skilled engineering work through hands-on training and support from experienced colleagues.
Previous engineering experience is welcome but is not essential.

• Deburring, dressing and finishing gears while protecting tooth profiles and critical surfaces.
• Fitting gears, shafts, bearings and seals, and assembling transmission subassemblies.
• Reading engineering drawings and following work instructions.
• Using measuring equipment to carry out visual and dimensional checks.
• Working safely and maintaining a clean, organised workspace.

• An interest in engineering and practical, hands-on work.
• Good manual dexterity and attention to detail.
• A patient, methodical approach and pride in doing a job properly.
• Reliable, willing to learn and comfortable working as part of a team.
