Help shape the future of Supporting Healthcare Heroes UK. As a trustee, you’ll provide strategic oversight, support good governance, and help ensure the charity delivers meaningful support and advocacy for healthcare workers affected by Long Covid.
What difference will this role make?Supporting Healthcare Heroes UK (SHH-UK) exists to support healthcare workers whose lives have been affected by Long Covid. Since our launch, we have provided peer support, shared evidence-based information, amplified the voices of healthcare workers, and advocated for improvements in workplace support, healthcare access, and infection prevention measures.
As a trustee, your contribution will directly influence our ability to continue and expand this work. By providing strategic oversight, expertise and guidance, you will help ensure the charity remains sustainable, effective and focused on delivering meaningful impact for the healthcare workers we support.
Your involvement will help SHH-UK:
- Reach more healthcare workers living with Long Covid through our support groups, resources and communications.
- Strengthen our advocacy work, helping to influence policy and practice at local and national levels.
- Raise awareness of the ongoing impact of Long Covid on healthcare workers and their families.
- Develop and maintain high-quality information, resources and educational materials.
- Build partnerships with healthcare organisations, charities, researchers and policymakers.
- Secure the funding and volunteer capacity needed to sustain and grow our services.
- Ensure the charity is well governed and positioned for long‑term success.
We are a small charity with ambitious goals, so trustees have the opportunity to make a visible and meaningful contribution. Whether your expertise lies in communications, digital development, fundraising, volunteer management, social media or clinical practice, your skills can help us strengthen our reach, increase our impact and improve the support available to healthcare workers across the UK.
Most importantly, by helping SHH-UK grow and thrive, you will be contributing to a future where healthcare workers affected by Long Covid are listened to, supported, and able to access the practical, financial, occupational and healthcare support they need. Your work as a trustee will help ensure that the experiences of healthcare workers continue to inform policy, practice and public understanding, while also supporting efforts to prevent others from experiencing similar harm.
This is an opportunity to use your skills and experience to make a lasting difference to a community that has given so much in caring for others.
