Role Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Prison Mental Health Nurse to join our dynamic team at CNWL, an NHS Trust committed to delivering exceptional healthcare services. This role is pivotal in providing specialised mental health care within a secure prison environment in Aylesbury. As a Prison Mental Health Nurse, you will play a crucial part in supporting the mental well‑being of inmates, contributing to their rehabilitation and overall health outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments and develop tailored care plans for inmates.
  • Provide therapeutic interventions and support to individuals with a range of mental health conditions.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including psychiatrists, psychologists, and social workers, to ensure holistic care.
  • Administer medication and monitor its effects, adjusting treatment plans as necessary.
  • Offer crisis intervention and support during periods of acute distress.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential patient records in compliance with data protection regulations.
  • Participate in regular case reviews and team meetings to discuss patient progress and care strategies.
  • Engage in continuous professional development and training to enhance clinical skills and knowledge.
Required Qualifications And Experience
  • Registered Nurse (Mental Health) with current NMC registration.
  • Relevant qualifications in mental health nursing as per role requirements.
  • Completion of NHS mandatory training.
  • Proven experience in mental health nursing, preferably within a secure or forensic setting.
