The Role: As Quality Assurance Manager, you will lead quality operations across our manufacturing shifts and testing laboratory. Reporting directly to the Head of Quality Assurance, you will serve as the primary bridge between QA, Operations, R&D, and Supply Chain—ensuring quality is embedded into daily operations and championing a Right-First-Time culture.
This is an agile, hands-on position. You will direct 3 Team Leaders, govern internal and external Out-of-Spec (OOS) testing, lead non-conformance and deviation resolution, act as an Authorised Person for batch release, and drive continuous improvement projects across the site.
This is an onsite role based at our Innovation Centre in Aylesbury.
Salary: £50,000 - £60,000.
Key Responsibilities- Develops a quality control system that guarantees we monitor enough of the Operational tasks and outputs to guarantee a highest quality rate reaches the customer's hands.
- Creates and maintains strong, comprehensive and effective route systems for the QCs to follow.
- Provide visible, supportive leadership across operational shifts. Mentor, coach, and develop the skills of your team while building an inclusive, high-performing culture.
- Partner closely with cross-functional teams to resolve quality challenges collaboratively, ensuring quality is embedded into daily operations rather than treated as a hurdle.
- Reports, analyses and finds corrective and preventive actions to all malfunctions to Operational Tasks and outputs.
- Facilitates and Leads on Non-Conformance assessment and resolution.
- Facilitate proactive solutions by collecting and analysing quality data.
- SME on Risk Assessment and Management processes and procedures.
- Review current standards, policies, processes and documentation, guaranteeing they are simple, comprehensive, efficient, and adhered to.
- Keep records of quality reports, statistical reviews and relevant documentation.
- Ensure all standards are met.
- Delegated as authorised person ensuring each batch has been manufactured and checked in accordance with the marketing authorisation.
Essential Criteria
- Proven experience leading, mentoring, and upskilling operational or cross-functional teams with an empathetic, collaborative approach.
- Background in a scientific discipline, such as Chemistry, or equivalent practical industry experience.
- Demonstrable experience in a quality management capacity within a regulated manufacturing setting (e.g., cosmetics, FMCG, or medical devices).
- Strong problem-solving skills with demonstrable experience driving CAPA processes and root-cause analysis for non-conformances, deviations, and Out-Of-Spec parameters.
- Experience maintaining clear, accessible quality management documentation in a fast-paced production environment.
- Robust understanding of ISO 22716 (Cosmetics GMP), ISO 9001, or FDA Over-The-Counter (OTC) regulations.
- Exposure to Continuous Improvement methodologies or project management frameworks.
