We’re looking for a compassionate and motivated Complex Needs Practitioner (Recovery Worker) to join our dedicated team, supporting individuals affected by substance misuse on their journey towards recovery. This is a rewarding opportunity to empower people to make positive, lasting changes while working within a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.

No two days are the same. You’ll work with people from a variety of backgrounds, providing tailored, person-centred support that helps them reduce harm, build resilience, and achieve their personal goals.

As a Complex Needs Practitioner, you’ll manage your own caseload, delivering high-quality psychosocial interventions to individuals with complex needs. Working as part of the One Recovery Buckinghamshire (ORB) service, you’ll collaborate with health professionals, social care teams, housing providers, and community organisations to ensure every person receives the support they need to thrive. You’ll play a vital role in helping individuals regain independence, improve their wellbeing, and sustain long-term recovery.

• Manage a diverse caseload of individuals with complex needs related to substance misuse.
• Build trusted, supportive relationships with service users and, where appropriate, their families.
• Complete comprehensive assessments, care plans, psychosocial interventions, reviews, and aftercare support.
• Develop personalised, strengths-based recovery plans focused on achieving meaningful outcomes.
• Identify, assess, and manage risk, including safeguarding concerns, ensuring individuals remain safe and supported.
• Work closely with partner agencies to coordinate timely, effective, and holistic support.
• Advocate on behalf of service users, helping them access healthcare, housing, social care, education, employment, and wider community services.
• Promote recovery, independence, wellbeing, and harm reduction through evidence-based interventions.
• Maintain accurate and confidential records in line with GDPR and organisational policies.
• Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, case discussions, and continuous service improvement.

We’re looking for someone who genuinely cares about making a difference and has the skills to support people facing complex challenges. You’ll ideally have:

• An understanding of drug and alcohol misuse, recovery, and wider health-related issues.
• Experience working with adults within addiction services, housing, social care, mental health, criminal justice, or similar settings.
• The ability to build positive, trusting relationships with people from diverse backgrounds.
• Strong communication, organisational, and case management skills.
• Knowledge of safeguarding, risk assessment, and person-centred approaches.
• A collaborative approach, with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary and multi-agency teams.
• A genuine passion for empowering people to achieve positive outcomes and sustain lasting recovery.
