SEND Teaching Assistant (1:1) – Special Needs Position

Salary: VIAT 2 – £18,170 pro rata to £24,791 FTE

About the role: Valley Invicta Academies Trust is recruiting a SEND Teaching Assistant to join our team at our primary school in Aylesford. This role offers a fantastic opportunity for someone with experience or a passion for inclusive education to provide dedicated support to a pupil with Down syndrome.

Key responsibilities:

• Work closely with the in‑school team of teachers, SENCO and Trust Director of SEND.
• Collaborate with specialist professionals (Speech & Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists) to receive bespoke training, support and strategy development.
• Apply and monitor programmes that support the pupil, with regular review and adaptation.
• Support the pupil’s development within the school setting over a 32.5‑hour week for 38 weeks per year.

Qualifications & preferences:

• Experience working within a primary school setting.
• Passion for inclusive education and meeting the needs of pupils with SEND.
• Hard‑working, flexible, adaptable and calm, with a positive approach to working with children.
