Position OverviewWe are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic suitably experienced and qualified Clinical Teaching & Research Fellow to assist in delivery of Undergraduate teaching within the hospital. It is anticipated that around 16 hours per week will be devoted to teaching activities. Teaching will be based within the Department of Surgery (Urology) and will focus on teaching Medical Students who rotate to University Hospital Ayr from the University of Glasgow.
Commencing 5 August 2026 for a 12 month fixed term contract, you will also be expected to undertake Clinical Research and/or Audit projects in Ayrshire in addition to studying for a further qualification in Medical Education.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in delivery of undergraduate teaching within the Department of Surgery (Urology).
- Teach medical students rotating to University Hospital Ayr from the University of Glasgow.
- Devote approximately 16 hours per week to teaching activities.
- Undertake clinical duties within the Department of Surgery, approximately 16 hours per week.
- Participate in Clinical Research and/or Audit projects in Ayrshire.
- Study for further qualification in Medical Education.
- When required, participate in on-call sessions at national locum rates.
- Full GMC Registration with a current Licence to Practice.
- MRCS preferable but not essential.
- No educational approval by the Postgraduate Dean.
- Excellent communication skills and General Surgical experience.
- Membership of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme is a condition of this post; the successful applicant will need to join the scheme prior to appointment.
12 month fixed term contract beginning 5 August 2026. Upon commencement, no on-call requirement, though future changes may involve on-call sessions at national locum rates.
