Specialty Doctor – Old Age Psychiatry

Opportunity within the Elderly Mental Health service at Ailsa Hospital, Ayr. Permanent role with full time hours 9‑5 Monday to Friday, no on‑call.

As a Specialty Doctor in Old Age Psychiatry you will:

• Take ward doctor responsibility for 12 HBCCC inpatient beds at Ailsa Hospital.
• Cross‑cover with the other Specialty Doctor for the Functional HBCCC ward.
• Participate in CMHTE meetings.
• Conduct outpatient clinics and domiciliary visits.
• Participation in the out‑of‑hours rota is not required.

• Full GMC registration and Licence to Practice.
• Minimum 4 years postgraduate training, with at least two years in Core Psychiatry Training or equivalent.
• A degree of basic general medical skills.
• Possession of Section 22 approval (or intention to apply).
• Eligibility for inclusion in the GMC Specialist Registrar scheme.
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (required for domiciliary visits).
• Experience in inpatient psychiatry, preferably within an HBCCC setting.
