Lecturer in Bricklaying and Construction Operations

Hours: 35 hours per week

Contract: Permanent

Location: Ayr Campus

Salary: £41,833 - £50,359 per annum

Job Description:

Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to ensuring a positive learning environment that encourages active participation and enables learners to achieve their full potential.
  • Assist in the development, delivery and assessment of relevant resources.
  • Support the Curriculum Quality Manager in delivering the department curriculum to the required quality and standards, integrating learning experiences that support the student journey.
  • Provide high‑quality, practical training alongside underpinning knowledge in bricklaying and construction.
  • Deliver training on a range of brickwork techniques, setting out, and site practice.
  • Maintain a sound understanding of current health and safety standards within the construction industry and advise students accordingly.
  • Support work‑based learning, liaise effectively with employers and managing agents.

Qualifications:

  • Advanced Craft or equivalent qualification in Bricklaying.
  • Proven industry experience in bricklaying, with a broad range of practical skills and knowledge of current construction methods.
  • Knowledge and understanding of health and safety practices, safe systems of work on construction sites, and apprenticeship frameworks.
  • Ability to engage and support a diverse range of learners, including school leavers, pre‑apprentices and employed apprentices.
  • A commitment to high‑quality learning, teaching and assessment.
