Quantity Surveyor

Location: South Ayrshire
Salary: 40,000 - 60,000 (Depending on Experience)

The Company:
Our client is a well-established and reputable civil engineering contractor based in South Ayrshire, specialising in groundworks, drainage, and infrastructure solutions for both residential and commercial projects. Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor (QS) to join their team.

The Role:
As a Quantity Surveyor, you will play a key role in overseeing the financial aspects of civil engineering projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. You will work closely with site teams, managing cost estimations, procurement, valuations, and final accounts for a variety of groundworks and civil engineering projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare cost estimates and budgets for civil engineering projects.

• Conduct cost analysis and identify potential cost-saving measures.

• Manage project costs, variations, and contracts.

• Liaise with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.

• Assist in procurement and tendering processes.

• Prepare and submit interim valuations and final accounts.

• Collaborate with project teams to ensure accurate cost control and reporting.

• Monitor cash flow and ensure all financial aspects of projects are controlled.

Essential Requirements:

• Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the civil engineering or groundworks sector.

• Strong understanding of civil engineering processes, including drainage, foundations, and infrastructure.

• Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

• Relevant qualifications in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related field.

• Experience with cost estimation, budgeting, and financial reporting.

Desirable Attributes:

• Previous experience in the groundworks or civil engineering sector.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Proficiency in industry-standard QS software.
