An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated Registered Mental Health Nurse to join the inpatient team within Clonbeith Ward, Ailsa Hospital for a 12 month period from September 2026. Clonbeith Ward is a 12 bedded ward caring for patients with complex organic mental health problems who experience stress and distress and associated behaviours.

This is a fixed term post- 72 hours per fortnight. A flexible approach to shift patterns is essential.

The opportunity is available to individuals with a sound clinical knowledge and a genuine interest in working with people with dementia and comorbid physical health problems. The band 6 role is essential to the smooth running of the ward and to assist in leading and monitoring the work and performance of the nursing team. Applicants should be able to evidence strong leadership qualities and be a role model to staff.

Supervision of staff on a day to day basis is a key aspect of the role and the ability to balance clinical and managerial responsibilities is essential. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of person centred care, evidenced based, recovery focused interventions and will also promote collaborative working within a multi- disciplinary team and across multi agency services.

Applications are welcomed from individuals who will work effectively within a multidisciplinary team and, as such, should have excellent communication, interpersonal and time management skills along with a positive attitude, calm demeanour and a proven ability to work as part of a team. Applicants should be willing to undertake training to develop skills and competencies as required.
