This three-quarter time administrative position is responsible for working with a team that oversees and implements four primary areas of curricular support at the university: programmatic and curricular changes; academic catalog development and revision; online instructional design processes; and academic program review. The Curriculum and Project Specialist collaborates with the Associate Director of the Office of Curricular Support (OCS) to provide oversight of curricular development/changes initiated and implemented through the Academic Cabinet and/or faculty governance systems.
This role includes managing content associated with the university’s online curriculum and catalog management tools. This individual also provides assistance and support for the instructional design team at the university, including creating and maintaining records that are utilized by university personnel for tracking progress, trainings, and updates. Finally, this role assists with basic training, record keeping, and tracking of all materials used in the academic program review and annual assessment processes.
When and where new technologies or processes are needed in any of these areas, this role will work collaboratively with others in OCS and associated offices to evaluate and facilitate change.
- Bachelor’s degree. Master’s preferred.
- Four - six years of experience in higher education.
- Serve as OCS liaison to designated faculty Studies Councils and related policy/standards committees.
- Serve as OCS liaison to designated school-based curriculum committees.
- Provide consultative expertise and technical support to instigate and move curriculum changes through the faculty governance and/or administrative approval process.
- Manage content within the Course Leaf curriculum system.
- Serve as an editor for curriculum content processed by the Office of Curricular Support, reviewing, editing, and proofreading content for grammar and punctuation usage, style, tone, quality, organization, and adherence to university standards.
- Communicate and collaborate with offices and departments on campus regarding curriculum updates to verify accuracy of content and consult in launch procedures.
- Serve as APU representative to internal and external constituents/vendors in relation to the online curriculum tool.
- Implement customer service standards to ensure the delivery of accurate and timely information to all internal and external clientele (e.g., faculty and staff).
- Assist with training of faculty, staff and students on Course Leaf.
- Consult with faculty groups on Student Learning Outcomes and Pedagogy.
- Represent APU at Course Leaf annual conferences where possible.
- Be proficient in using Course Leaf CAT to ensure curricular changes are reflected in the upcoming Catalog environment, including creating, removing or organizing page content and other administrative functions within the tool.
- Communicate and collaborate with offices and departments on campus regarding catalog updates to verify accuracy of content.
- Provide project management assistance to the Instructional Design team, including updates to tracking software, workload documentation, and other data.
- Create systems for ensuring equitable and timely workloads for the Instructional Design team that meet the needs of the larger academy.
- Provide as-needed assistance with tracking and communication regarding documents pertaining to academic Program Review and annual academic assessment.
