Under the direction of the supervisor, the Program Coordinator for the School of Business and Management (SBM) will provide support for an academic portfolio of degrees and programs within the School of Business and Management. Responsibilities include advising our Undergraduate, Graduate, and Professional students, managing department activities as well as special projects, academic administration management, and support for the Department Chair(s) in their degree/program portfolio.

This position will work closely with the Department Chair(s) in an effort to manage the recruitment through the alumni lifecycle of the academic experience within the SBM.

This is an in-person position with general hours of Monday-Friday 9:00am - 6:00pm or 8:00am - 5:00pm (Fridays the office closes at 4:30 pm and hours will be 8:00am - 4:30pm). Operational hours for the SBM are 8:00am - 6:00pm in order to accommodate both undergraduate and graduate students. (Operations Manager can set the schedule for Program Coordinator(s) so that the service hours are covered).

The schedule will be modified monthly for Same Day Admissions Events, One Day Admissions Events, and any SBM special events (these events are held on evenings and occasional Saturdays, and hours will be adjusted to accommodate the need).

Required Education

  • Bachelor's degree required.

Required Experience

  • One to three years of academic advising, coordinating, or related experience.
  • Experience managing a department or functional area, including developing and implementing performance improvement systems.
  • Familiarity with SBM academic programs a plus.

Primary Duties/Essential Functions

Program Coordination

    • Provide one-on-one academic advisement for all SBM students, including undergraduate majors, minors, graduate students, and professional students within an assigned degree and program portfolio.
    • Offer program information, course suggestions, enrollment assistance, and review graduation requirements.
    • Help students identify long-term goals and career aspirations, positioning them for timely graduation and future success.
    • Advise special populations, such as international and military/veteran students, regarding academic programs, policies, and resources.
    • Maintain advising records and confidential student evaluation records.
    • Assess student academic standing at the end of each session, communicating good standing, probation, or dismissal.
    • Serve as backup for academic advising of incoming freshmen, transfers, and walk-in students.
    • In collaboration with the supervisor and Department Chair(s), oversee the student success function within SBM.
    • Assist the supervisor and Department Chair(s) in building graduate and undergraduate fall, spring, and summer course offerings.
    • In collaboration with the supervisor and Department Chair(s), create and manage course plans for students to follow throughout their program.
    • Stay updated on course offerings and the demands of SBM students.
    • Coordinate with course scheduling partners to ensure students are aware of schedule changes.
    • Advise incoming students at summer and winter undergraduate university-sponsored orientation events.
    • Collaborate on the planning and participation for SBM-specific new student orientation events (undergraduate, graduate, and professional).
    • Evaluate prospective graduate student applications.
    • Send welcome emails, create course plans, and assist in enrolling new graduate students.
    • Conduct classroom visits to inform undergraduate students about graduate programs and the benefits of taking graduate courses.
    • Liaise with university departments (e.g., Graduate and Professional Center, Student Success Center, Registrar, Academic Success Center) to provide student services, submit schedules, schedule changes, and petitions.
