The Assistant Factory Manager to manage and grow its manufacturing operations consisting of over 700+ joinery factory workers, display cases and bespoke interiors and joinery products to fulfil the requirements of the joinery division.
Role Description- Enhance efficiency in existing processes and facility and propose improvements and mechanisation throughout the production cycle
- Experience in joinery shop fittings and other sections works such as assembly, milling, veneer, polishing, upholstery etc…. all kind of joinery works
- Experience in managing shop floor on the daily basis and monitor all sections workload and ensure smooth running of daily activities
- Oversee the production process, drawing up a production schedule, lead and manage work allocation in liaison with shop floor supervisors
- Monitor the production processes and adjusting schedules as needed
- Strong background in production process like CNC laser or machining, all modern equipment’s
- Good knowledge for different finishes and methods to achieve the finishes
- Optimise the machining processes in terms of consistent quality and productivity
- Oversee planning for new product development process, selection of machines, tools, fixtures, and inspection methods
- Improve the standard of the company’s manufacturing operation to bring it in line with European manufacturing facilities (in terms of housekeeping, good practices, product handling, health & safety, planning and organisation)
- Increase the company’s capacity in an efficient/competitive manner
- Improve quality of products and manufacturing methods and processes
- In-depth technical knowledge of manufacturing techniques, details, processes, familiar with all types of raw materials, adhesives and finishing materials to organise and lead the task at hand with a clear vision and objective
- Takes ownership in resolving technical challenges and bottlenecks on the shop floor. Develop and lead the continuous improvement activities within the team
- Co-ordinate and maintain good working relationships between different production and support functions (Metal, Purchasing, Stores, Logistics, H&S etc.)
- Manage staff selection, performance, development, and training processes to ensure team competencies and capabilities to reach the business goals and expectations
- Minimum 10 to 15 years of experience of working in a factory management role of a large furniture and joinery manufacturing company
- A self-driven and pro-active person with a strong personality and good man-management skills, who can efficiently lead a workforce of over 700+ workers
- Very strong technical and execution capabilities with ability to solve technical problems and details. Must have a good understanding of Capacity management
- Sound knowledge of woodworking business particularly technical aspects relating to joinery and case good construction methods, finishing procedures, timber and veneers, familiarity with various woodworking machinery etc
- An understanding of Lean manufacturing techniques and the ability to implement change
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work successfully in a multinational environment
- Good knowledge of planning and resource allocation
- Sound knowledge of manufacturing in architectural joinery including sourcing of refurbishing machinery
- Expert in all technical aspects related to production and production support functions
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Auto CAD and experience on ERP will be an added advantage
