Certifications/Licenses are NOT required for Entry Level Counselors

Location: Bainbridge PSATC 235 State Hospital Rd Bainbridge, GA 39817

Work Schedule: Monday through Thursday, 10-hour shifts (day shift)

Up to $3,000 Sign On Bonus for Certified Counselors

Responsibilities
  • Substance Abuse Counselors conduct client interviews and assessments to review substance use disorder and treatment history.
  • Evaluate client response to treatment to inform modifications to the treatment plan and assist with caseloads and development of individualized treatment plans and goals, interventions, and required supports.
  • Assist with and provide didactic group counseling, including psychoeducation, drug education, and family education to ensure peer support.
  • Provide individual counseling, educational programs, and lectures to address relapse prevention, problem solving, behavior modification, anger management, and to assist in overcoming substance use disorders and achieving pro-social life changes.
  • Maintain a caseload up to 25 clients per state and contract requirements.
  • Collaborate with clients to develop discharge summaries and continuing care and relapse prevention plans for supervisor approval to integrate aftercare treatment with referral resources.
  • Coordinate required services to resolve emergency problems in crisis situations in support of continued recovery.
  • Collect and maintain treatment records and reports to ensure organizational, regulatory, accreditation, and contractual compliance.
  • Perform office administrative duties as needed (answering phones, relaying messages, inquiries, filing, copying, faxing, planning events, assembling intake packets, etc.).
Job Requirements
  • Must have a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in a helping profession from an accredited college or university.
  • Some previous counseling experience, and experience in substance use disorder or mental health treatment is preferred.
  • Must obtain certification as identified by state within 30 months of beginning counseling services. Acceptable Certifications include Certified Addiction Counselor (GA), Certified Addiction Counselor (NAADAC), Certified Drug and Alcohol Counselor (ICRC), and Certification as a Certified Clinical Supervisor (CCS). Acceptable Licensures include LPC, LAPC, LCSW, LMFT, and CPCS.
  • Must be able to obtain Georgia Department of Corrections clearance to work in the correctional institution.
Physical Requirements
  • Works in a correctional facility.
  • Ability to walk and move about facilities for up to two hours at a time to monitor and interact with clients.
  • Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to move objects.
  • Ability to use a keyboard and video display terminal to receive, retrieve, and/or audit information and data.
