Construction Materials Testing – Lab Technician

We are seeking a highly motivated laboratory technician who is capable of handling complex projects and making competent decisions. Soils Engineering, Inc. offers on-job training and the ability to gain valuable career experience and certifications.

Technicians will be needed to perform routine laboratory tests on construction materials (concrete, soils, masonry, asphaltic concrete, & structural steel) for the purpose of verifying conformance to construction plans and specifications.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Testing construction materials such as soils, concrete, masonry, and hot mix asphalt, for quality control / quality assurance in laboratory.
• Documenting test results, data entry, & communicating with project managers and engineers regarding lab testing assignments.

Requirements

• High school diploma and interest in learning construction materials testing techniques.
• Organizational skills, computer skills, good math skills, and a clean driving record are required.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required.
• English speaking, reading and writing required.
• Knowledge of MS Office including Word and Excel preferred.

We will teach you how to perform laboratory testing of concrete, soil, asphalt, and other construction materials according to ASTM and Caltrans procedures.

Certifications preferred but not required include:

• Caltrans: CT 105 through CT 521
• American Concrete Institute (ACI) – Concrete Strength Testing, Aggregate base, Aggregate
• Must keep required certifications current.
