Critical Care Medicine in Bakersfield, California

Join a stable intensivist team in California's Central Valley, where you can practice in a well-supported ICU environment with true shift-based scheduling and no call. This role offers flexible scheduling, strong APP support, and visa sponsorship for those who need it. Whether you're early in your career or an experienced intensivist looking for predictable hours, this is a balanced, full-time opportunity with room to grow.

Practice Details

  • Team includes five physicians and two APPs across two adult ICUs
  • ICU census is roughly 90% medical and 10% surgical; no cardiac, thoracic, or pediatric cases
  • Each shift is staffed with a physician and an NP, with plans to enhance coverage
  • Cerner EMR is in place, with transition to Epic within the year

Schedule

  • Full-time is defined as 18 shifts per month
  • Choose a day shift (6 AM-6 PM) or night (6 PM-6 AM) schedule
  • Options include 7-on/7-off or 4-on/4-off
  • No call; true time off when you're off shift

Compensation & Benefits

  • Employed annual salary between $250,000-$350,000 for 1.0 FTE
  • Negotiable sign-on bonus and relocation support
  • Full benefits: medical, dental, vision, retirement
  • H1B and J1 visa sponsorship available with in-house immigration counsel

Candidate Requirements

  • Board-Eligible or Board-Certified in Critical Care
  • Open to new graduates and experienced physicians
  • Comfortable managing 15-25 adult ICU patients per shift
  • Visa candidates encouraged to apply
